Enrollment, Eligibility and Billing
Distinctions
Employers and their advisors are
increasingly seeking to outsource in-house
corporate benefit management. Total
benefit management outsourcing provides
nearly complete freedom from the benefit
administration workload. The functions
most often targeted for outsourcing
include enrollment, carrier-eligibility
and billing processes. Finding truly
dependable services is critical, but
finding trustworthy benefit administrative
services can be challenging. Benesyst's
systems excel in all key areas:
Implementation Project Management
Implementing an outsourced solution
is a serious undertaking, no matter
what any salesperson tells you. Understanding
your world, your culture, your policies,
rules and practices - as well as your
benefit plans - is crucial to achieving
success in outsourcing. Yet so often,
in the labor- and research-intensive
aspects of implementation, requirements
and assumptions collide in a rush to
complete implementation, with unprofessional
results. With Benesyst, you can be assured
of professional project management planned
and supervised by professional project
managers, experienced in both benefits
and outsourcing preparation and execution.
The result? Success. This is just one
important reason to select Benesyst.
Complex, Rules-Based Benefit Enrollment
A key Benesyst advantage is our ability
to manage a wide variety of benefit
structures and eligibility scenarios.
Benefits based on class, business unit,
location, or other variable are generally
no problem for the highly flexible BeneSmart
system. You can trust that employees
will be presented with the correct options,
tiers, rates and content, based on the
required eligibility criteria. Likewise,
BeneSmart easily manages carrier billing
rules and payroll deduction rules.
Defined Contribution (Cafeteria)
Benefit Structures
Does you plan offer a budget of benefit
credits (employer contribution by class)
that the employee can spend down on
various benefit plans? Are there rules
on which benefits the dollars can be
applied to? Rules on how the remainder
can be applied? Cash-out conversion?
All these are no problem for the rules-based
processes within BeneSmart.
Decision Support
Benesyst's enrollment and Employee-Self-Serve
options within BeneSmart provide tools
for calculating costs, modeling benefits
based on individual needs, as well as
customized content management. The result
is greater privacy and self-sufficiency
for the employee. Employees are able
to arrive at better decisions with less
of a drain on your limited resources
in the HR/benefits department. This
means greater productivity for you;
an ability to concentrate on planning
and strategy, rather than answering
the same questions, over and over. It
also means greater productivity for
employees, as they are able to get their
questions answered after hours, at home
(see BeneSmart ROI).
Content Management
BeneSmart's content management gives
you the opportunity to provide documents,
forms, SPDs, hints, Q&A info, links,
video clips and a wealth of other information
to employees, customized by eligibility,
round the clock! The rules-based content
repository can be used by eligible HR
and employees alike - a major convenience
and a great way to get more efficient!
Eligibility Data Relayed To Carriers
Benesyst's carrier connectivity provides
an electronic data interface between
Benesyst and a wide array of health,
dental, vision, life disability and
ancillary benefit providers. Health
data is relayed in HIPAA 834; alternate
formats are available for the needs
of ancillary carriers. This ensures
that you control the data that carriers
receive, that the data is timely and
that it ties out to the billing you
also control (consolidated benefit billing)
which is created by the same system
that controls and transmits the eligibility.
Consolidated Benefit Billing
What your organization pays for benefits
each month should tie-out precisely to
the eligibility data relayed to carriers. Benesyst's system controls the changes
going into carrier systems, and our
internal systems and staff ensure that
exceptions are aggressively managed
with each carrier. This system prevents
overpayment and generally saves employers
at least 1% of the annual benefits budget
in successfully captured credits for
retroactively-dated changes. Also, since
data is relayed electronically, stale
dated changes resulting in lost premium
months become unlikely.
Payroll System Integration & Connectivity
We can integrate with virtually any
ODBC-compliant payroll system. This
includes 95% of what's out there, including
the payroll industry leaders. Going
with Benesyst gives you the freedom
to select the payroll system or vendor
you choose, without concern that you'll
be tied to any one's limited benefit
management capabilities or questionable
service levels. With Benesyst, benefits
are our only business.
Employee Self-Serve & Life-Cycle
Event Management
Benesyst's systems are designed to manage
all "hire to retire" life events for
the employee and dependents. Nearly
sixty types of employment and/or life
events are managed by the system. Any
of these events can be "farmed out"
to employees to run on a validated "self-serve"
basis. This makes BeneSmart a truly
all-encompassing service and a time-saving,
money-saving partner in all aspects
of benefit management. Employees can
view their benefits and, if authorized,
make their changes in the privacy of
their workspace or home, without employer
involvement. Changes can be monitored
by the employer and the range of self-serve
events can be contracted or expanded
as required.
